Whip Stop – Whip Socks

Introducing RAAH Safety WHIP STOP

Recognized as one of the most efficient high pressure hose safety restraints, the Whip Socks are designed to prevent injuries and severe fatalities in the event of a hose failure. Whip Sock’s name is inspired by the structure, the stocking style Hose Whip Stops device sits around a hose similar to a woven steel sock. The idea is to provide a grip on a hose over the larger area so to securing the hose and prevent it from whipping if a high-pressure accident causes the hose to release from its place.

Whip Socks, high-pressure hose safety restraint device, designed to prevent injuries and severe fatalities. Offers a unique braided construction that reliably stops the unpredictable and potentially hazardous movement of a high-pressure hose. Used on various high-pressure hoses, including air, water, hydraulic, slurry, etc. The new best way to restrain high-pressure hoses.

Benefits

There are several varieties of equipment to stop a hose from whipping around in case of unpredictable whipping hose accidents. Not only do the braided cable restraintshelp to protect the pipe from potential rapture, it also prevents the hose from whipping around.

Our Whip socks are used not only as air hose safety equipment but for other hose carrying agents as well. They can be incorporated in hose safety systems for a variety of applications where different substances are transferred through a hose at high-pressure, including; air, fluid, water, hydraulic, slurry, mud etc.

The whip sock is made for safety as its primary function. It features a unique construction that prevents unpredictable and potentially hazardous movement of a high pressure hose in the event of failure. Hence, the whip stop is ideal for any workplaces where personnel are in close working range with high pressure hoses.

Specification

Features

The RAAH Safety WHIP STOP is made from braided steel cable that wraps over the small pipe or hoses. The design is made in such a way that in case of pressure, force is applied from the interior, the cable tightens down on the hose, hence controlling the hose lashing.

This mechanism is efficient by highlighting chief features; having two mounting points and a long gripping area. We offer a variety of pressure ratings for compatibility with the application, both for the anchoring points and shackles. Inadequacy in pressure rating or using different rated anchors and shackles can cause the system to fail in case of raptures.

Installing a Whip stop

The Make sure the Whip Stop has a good fit on the hose, lay it nice and flat. Once put on the hose make sure the netting diamonds are as wide as they are longer to create a nice tight fit. Once installed brace the hose and pull on the Whip Stop, it should not slide, if it slides it’s too big, you need to replace to the correct size Whip Stop. Regular inspection of the Whip Stop is advised once installed. Make sure the eyes are not elongated or ruptured or have any broken wires; Always look for rust on the Whip Sock or any individual strands broken. This means the whip stop has been under a load and needs to be pulled out of service and replaced with a new Whip Stop.

Safety Points to Remember

  • Always assess your work before and incorporate personal safety gear. Additionally, ensure all equipment has been inspected before use.
  • Ensure all hoses, fittings, and safety devices are rated for the exact hose pressures
  • Double check joint connections, fittings, compressed air hose clamps and coupling matching
  • Only rely on premium quality safety equipment to safeguard your high pressure hoses; unreliable safety products can cause unfortunate results.
  • Keep your hoses free from contact with any corrosive chemicals, sharp objects, charged surfaces, etc.
  • At all costs, avoid discontenting the couplings under current pressure.
  • Educate the personnel inquisition from potential existing hazards and the proper use of safety restraint

The force calculator will give you the forces created during a failure with fluid. To calculate the force on hoses with air or gases, double the fluid reading. Fluid-100% Air-200 %
